Kilua Residences by CityBlue, Mombasa

This hotel is tucked away from the road so really peaceful environment. I loved the ambience of the hotel as well as a nice foyer and dining area - and pool with a wonderful sea view if you walk to the end of the property. The apartments give you the option to cook and dine alone - so perfect for a quiet getaway. Really great service. The additional of the pan -African restaurant Kiza is just amazing - was lovely to eat dishes from the continent.

Kilua resort is fairly new and is situated on Shanzu beach. The hotel is built around a central area of swimming pools which are well-kept and very clean. The shallow swimming pools are a great attraction for families and children. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable, and we had a room on the 3rd floor with a great view of the pool area and the beach. Even though the hotel does not have a bar of its own, one can make use of the Flamingo cave bar next door (belonging to pride in Flamingo hotel, and located just one minute walk from the Kilua resort reception), which has superb views of the beach. The hotel provides shuttle services to the airport for a fee. The hotel staff are very welcoming all throughout - from the reception to the housekeeping staff and the concierge. Check-in was smooth. On our last day of stay, we were very pleased when the manager allowed us to have a room, since we had to vacate our 3- bedroom unit, but our flight out of Mombassa got delayed until late in the day. Breakfast includes a variety of options.

Clean and very professional staff. The food was also fantastic. The views and beach access were excellent.
